It’s been a long road, my children,
the road of our dialogue together.
When its dim path began
no prophet could have told its weather.
It’s been a long road, my charges,
the road of our ride through zones of dangers
watching where evil ran
in the dark recesses of strangers.
It’s been a long road, my loved ones,
the road that led to your independence
beyond my thorny hedges
to a home where you built new fences.
Now on your own new road you travel
the road of your shining childrens’ pleasure.
We hope you will learn as we did
that children are the ultimate treasure.
